I have been working as Robert's manager for 9 years. I know him as an honest person, very direct but human. He is a professional CFO with deep knowledge of International Finance including complicated global models in US GAAP and Controlling. He managed very well all back office operations including asset and fleet management. He was part of the management in good times when we grew from $20M to $200M but he showed his professionalism during the 2008 crisis where we dropped by 30%, let go of almost 500 employees from 1,600, and still stayed profitable. Robert was the European CFO for 7 years. During this period the European unit grew organically and by acquisitions from $60 to $150 million, and expanded to new geographies such as Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Switzerland, Netherlands, and UK. Robert ensured that all financial reporting for local, US GAAP and SOX compliance was in place, multiple projects were run on time and on budget. He ran the projects to integrate acquired companies and worked with Headquarters, the EU President, and Country & Finance managers to define strategic goals while hitting tactical and operational targets. Robert is great at making sure that everyone delivers the right results, on time and on budget, with no unpleasant surprises for board directors & shareholders. I had the privilege of working together with Robert on the SAP conversion project for our business unit in Czech Republic serving Eastern Europe. As the senior local manager, Robert provided a level of leadership and clarity both for the local team and the global project team that enabled this project to be completed successfully and with no major disruptions. I relied heavily on his ability to distill the relevant elements of various OTC business challenges, and found him to be consistently responsive to not only the local business and regulatory requirements but also to corporate business policy and accounting requirements. Robert is a high-level thinker with a very practical approach, and this project's success is in no small part a result of his competent leadership.

Robert is a detail-oriented professional who can see the full picture and not be lost in the details. He is well tuned to the needs of a multicultural corporation and can bring financial controls into day-to-day business operations in CEE. As CFO, Robert was highly involved in the operation and acquired significant hands-on experience in different aspects of the business.

Robert worked as a successful sales manager in my organization, but apart from the sales skills, he also has sharp analytics and is very accurate. This led me to propose to him to take over sales operations, where we needed the combination of those two skills. He developed well in this role and at some point grew more and more into the finance area, until eventually becoming the CFO. I am not surprised about this development, as I always felt that good financial managers need to have seen sales for a while to better understand the issues and opportunities. And Robert's success is a very good example of that.

I got to know Robert well during my time as CFO at APP in the Czech Republic in the late 1990s. We ran a training program for APP's managers called APP University so that management across sales, finance and IT could better understand the overall corporate goals, including the financial goals, and how such goals are measured. Robert was an enthusiastic participant and learner at APP University and quickly came to utilise the concepts we taught in his then sales-focused responsibilities.

I had the pleasure to work with Robert both as colleagues serving on the NESS Europe Board and as a European finance manager supporting the unit I was managing. I appreciated Robert's direct personal involvement in issues, his full understanding of operations and client relationship management. Robert has a true international experience as CFO of a major operation but his capacity can also be translated into a COO position.
